She is a Junior at Hofstra University and in addition to being a fabulous student, fantastic friend, and incredible sister, she does about 100 things on campus. One of the most impressive things she does though, is lead the planning for the campus' Relay for Life.
Relay for Life is a twelve hour event where participants Celebrate, Remember and Fight back against cancer. The 12 hours of the event symbolize the 12 months in a year that cancer patients endure...cancer doesn't sleep, and at Relay neither to the participants. They money that is raised goes directly to the American Cancer Society for research and programs to support patients (Alyssa's personal favorite is Look Good Feel Better, a service that teachers women how to apply makeup and style wigs after chemo).
I'm asking you to donate to Alyssa's personal fundraising effort. Because in addition to planning an entire event that last year raised $107,000 and had more than 800 attendees, Alyssa has set her personal fundraising at $1,000. To say that I am a proud big sister would be a total understatement and I will be on campus on April 27th supporting my (not so) baby sister and this fantastic event.
